FORMALITIES FOR GETTING TIBET VISA
Visa obtained from Chinese Embassy / Consulate is good to travel to China but not to Tibet. To travel to Tibet, Visa must be obtained from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu but the procedure is as follow:
- Individuals / Groups willing to visit Tibet must contact / buy a package tour from DYM-Nepal or through its representative abroad.
- Passport details (full name exactly like in the Passport, Sex, Date of birth, Occupation, Passport Number, Date of Expiry and Nationality) should reach us along with photocopy of the Passport at least 3 weeks before the commencement of tour. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry in Tibet.
- Visa is issued by Chinese Embassy, Kathmandu only after receiving the authority for issuing the Visa from the Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) Lhasa.
- Visa section is open on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday only from 10:00 hrs. to 11:30 hrs. for submitting and collecting passports.
- Three Passport size photographs are required to obtain individual Visa.
- DYM-Nepal requests the Visa authority of TTB only after receiving the photocopy of the passport with all other details & full payment in advance.
- TTB sends Visa authority on the request of the local agent in Lhasa.
- No refund after receiving the Visa authority from TTB Lhasa.
- Chinese Embassy charges extra as urgent Visa fee on top of normal Visa fee under following conditions.
* If Visa is to be issued in two working days NER 500.00 / person.
* If Visa is to be issued within one working day NER 1500.00 / person.
